White Horses
Taken above Easedale Tarn, looking east towards Helvellyn and Fairfield on a beautiful but unpredictable winter’s day.
As I stood there in the freezing conditions watching the light gradually soften; heralding the beginning of dusk, I noticed a little river of mist slowly creeping up the valley a few hundred metres below. In a very short time that little river soon became a tumultuous ocean of cloud, with gigantic cresting vapour waves - just like the white horses of the sea. The Lake District, UK.
